Gaku: Minna no Yama   (岳 みんなの山?, lit. "Peak: Everyone's Mountain") is a Japanese mountaineering mangawritten and illustrated by Shin'ichi Ishizuka. It has been serialized by Shogakukan in Big Comic Original since 2003, and collected in eighteen bound volumes. It depicts the adventures of a volunteer with an alpine search and rescue team in the Japanese Alps. Gaku: Minna no Yama received the 2008 Manga Taisho ("Cartoon Grand Prize") and the 2009 Shogakukan Manga Award for general manga. A movie based on Gaku was released on May 7, 2011. It had ended in 2012. Gaku: Minna no Yama is written and illustrated by Shin'ichi Ishizuka and was first published by Shogakukan in the seinen (aimed at younger adult men) manga magazine Big Comic Original in 2003 issue 19. Deadman Wonderland manga returns from hiatus

it was discovered that in the February 2013 issue of Shoten’s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine contains an announcement saying that Deadman Wonderland will be returning from it’s eight month hiatus which began back in April of this year after Jinsei Kataoka put the series on hiatus due to her pregnancy and she updated fans back in July that she had given birth to a healthy baby boy.

'Dragon Ball' creator Akira Toriyama honored at Angouleme comic festival

Manga artist Akira Toriyama, best known as creator of the "Dragon Ball" and "Dr. Slump" manga series, was honored with the Prix Special 40e anniversaire (special 40th anniversary award) at the Angouleme International Comics Festival in France. Launched in 1974, the 40th festival was held Jan. 31-Feb. 3 in the French city of Angouleme. The award was announced on the final day. The Angouleme comic festival brings together "bande dessinee" (comics for French and Belgian readers), Japanese manga, U.S. comics and other cartoons from around the world. The selection committee nominated 16 comic book artists for the accolade, with artists who joined this year's festival casting their votes. In addition to Toriyama, Japanese artists Katsuhiro Otomo and Jiro Taniguchi, as well as creators from Europe and the United States, were mentioned.
