TCAF Announces 2013 and 10th Anniversary Posters

TCAF ANNOUNCES 2013 and 10th Anniversary Posters
Japanese and Canadian artists create amazing tributes to the comics medium

February 25th–Today TCAF, The Toronto Comic Arts Festival, is pleased to announce its official 2013 Festival poster by renowned Japanese artist Taiyo Matsumoto, and the final version of the 10th Anniversary poster by acclaimed Canadian illustrator Maurice Vellekoop. These two artists, through their very different works, encompass a huge range of the diversity and talent that will be on display at TCAF 2013, to be held May 10th and 11th at Toronto Reference Library, and through the city of Toronto during the month of May.

“Maurice did a smashing job on the TCAF Anniversary poster,” enthused Festival Director Christopher Butcher. “I’d been hoping he would do an illustration for us for years, and the 10th Anniversary worked out perfectly. He’s further refined the poster we were originally spotlighting, to make a stronger, bolder piece, and I think it really pops and encapsulates the diversity of the medium. We’re lucky to have him as a part of the festival.”

“Similarly, Taiyo Matsumoto is visiting North America for the first time at TCAF,” continued Butcher. “It was important to commission a new piece of work by him for TCAF, one that communicates the quiet joy of reading comics, and his piece is just spectacular.”

Both posters will be printed and available for sale at all TCAF events and in the run-up to the festival, for the price of $10 each.

TCAF would also like to thank Michael Deforge for the lettering on the Taiyo Matsumoto poster, based on Matsumoto’s handwriting.
