International Comics Festival – Angoulème

Started in 1974, the festival of the 9th art is now in its 40th edition. This is currently held for 4 days (31st – 3rd February 2013) at the usual town called Angoulème, France, which is south-west of Paris and somewhere between Poitiers and Bordeaux.
Every year, cartoonists not only come to celebrate the art, but also to exhibit their skills and exchange ideas with each other. Awards are also given to some of them, for their contributions, for the most promising, for the youth, for the alternative comics, etc.

Of course, the festival will have invited guests such as Japanese Leiji Matsumoto ( Capitan Albator and Galaxy Express 999),

Korean artists with their K-comics such as this:

Various exhibits from many cartoonists wil be displayed, including Mickey And Donald.

LA BOÎTE À GAND : BRECHT EVENS ET SES COMPAGNONS DE ROUTE
( an alternative comics )

LES ARCANES D’ANDREAS

My all time favorite is this one : Astérix et Obélix

This year, by popular demand, they will also conduct a concert whereby some cartoonists will draw on stage to unfold a story as the orchestra plays, i.e, live performance of comic drawing with live music. The audience is always enthralled by the concert, which in French, is known as le concert de dessins ( drawing or sketch concert).
